Overview

The People & Talent Specialist plans, develops, recommends, and implements Human Resources activities, policies, procedures, and programs. The People & Talent Specialist is responsible for overseeing employee relations, talent acquisition, recruiting, crisis readiness response. This position is directly responsible key role in supporting our efforts to build and maintain a team. The role will primarily focus on recruiting but willing to dive in where needed and be comfortable pivoting between talent acquisition, employee relations, and other People Operations functions, as the situation requires. Advises and trains leaders in best employee relations practices and strategies for managing employee issues and grievances. Collects and analyzes employee data and information necessary to define and deploy necessary recruitment strategies. Supports an employee-oriented, high performance culture that emphasizes empowerment, quality, productivity, goal attainment, and the recruitment and ongoing development of the workforce.

Essential Functions

The People & Talent Specialist will work directly towards the development of management policies for the human resources department and will be generally tasked with the enforcement of those policies within the department. The People & Talent Specialist will be tasked with customarily and regularly exercising discretion and independent judgment in decision making relative to the operation of the human resources department.

People Operations

  • Develops, recommends, and implements personnel policies and procedures including preparing and maintaining the company Employee Handbook’s policies and procedures
  • Provides guidance and recommendation on training programs to production management
  • Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed.
  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions
  • This position is a designated, authorized representative to operate a company vehicle to transport Human Resources employees in the event of a non-emergency, work-related incident

Recruiting and Talent Acquisition

Creating and executing innovative sourcing and scaling strategies with a focus in diversity and inclusion recruitment and proactively partnering with teams and individuals to remove blockers and fulfill immediate hiring needs while contributing to the overall talent acquisition and people strategies.

  • First point of contact with Operations hiring managers to determine staffing needs and manages the position requisition process and approach.
  • Run a full-cycle recruiting process from sourcing, screening, virtual/onsite interviews, to closing offers
  • In collaboration with HPOPS and department managers, writes and maintains accurate job postings and ensures alignment with job descriptions.
  • Creatively uses social media platforms to attract new talent, ensure high visibility of career opportunities and promotes the MGC brand.
  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with traditional and non-traditional recruitment sources.
  • Attends networking events, job fairs or other related activities to promote and represent MGC as needed.
  • Screens resumes, interviews applicants, evaluates selection criteria, identifies qualified candidates, coordinates the interview process and makes recommendations to hiring managers regarding the best fit candidates.
  • Coordinates the interviewing process by scheduling interviews with hiring managers and identified stakeholders in a timely manner.

Employee Relations

Supports with employee relations including conducting incident and disciplinary investigations, conducting departmental reviews, and reviewing disciplinary procedures (including performance improvement plans), investigations and findings to determine if policy violations have occurred. Also responsible for submitting reports with official findings and proposed solutions to resolve employee relations matters.

  • Front facing and focused on delivering a positive employee experience.
  • Handles grievances (except for financial misconduct) an escalates matters to HPOPS.
  • Collaborates with POPS team, employees, managers and other stakeholders on employee relations matters (such as behavioral issues, disciplinary actions, separations, policy application and enforcement).
  • Provides guidance to employees, and stakeholders regarding employee relations issues and policy interpretation and application.
  • Provides advice, counseling and guidance to all levels of management and staff regarding employee relations issues, Company policies and procedures.

Qualifications / Core Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university and three years of Human Resources experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of employment law
  • Maintain strict confidentiality at all times on matters pertaining to the company and the employees
  • Ability to evaluate applications and resumes in addition to creating and revising internal documents.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of employees, manager, and the general public
