Title: Director/Senior Director, HR Business Partner

About Affinivax

Affinivax is a Cambridge-based clinical-stage biotechnology company with a novel, next-generation approach to the development of vaccines and immunotherapies targeting infectious and other immune-mediated diseases. This novel and highly efficient vaccine technology – called Multiple Antigen Presenting System (MAPS) – enables the high-affinity binding of protective polysaccharides as well as proteins in a single vaccine, uniquely inducing a broad and protective B-cell and T-cell immune response.

Our vision is to take a major step forward in vaccine innovation to prevent and combat a wide range of infectious and other immune-mediated diseases, protecting infants and adults in our communities and making a meaningful impact on global public health. Affinivax is focused on developing vaccines for the most challenging bacterial infections, with a goal of improving upon existing vaccines and providing solutions for where there are no vaccines or prevention strategies available today.

The role…

Affinivax is looking for a dynamic, business-focused Director/Sr. Director of HR who will be responsible for developing HR strategies, leading, driving, and running talent initiatives, change management efforts, and organizational development/design, as well as providing HR business partnership across our growing organization.

In this role, you will work cross-functionally to engage and align with business leaders, identify gaps and opportunities, and work collaboratively to develop strategic solutions. The incumbent will demonstrate learning and leadership agility, show curiosity and passion for the mission, can adapt to changing priorities, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Reports directly to the Chief People Officer and will oversee a small team of high-functioning HR Business Partners. 

You will have the opportunity to…

  • Consults with executive and senior leaders in areas of organization design and development in support of the business strategy. 
  • Partner with the business to identify and drive the growth strategy and proactively manage and coordinate all HR-related topics necessary.
  • Coach leaders and drive culture, talent, and employee development initiatives.
  • Responsible for driving corporate-led initiatives with the team and communicating how these programs fit within the overall business and HR strategy such as Total Rewards, Compensation, Performance Management, and Employee Relations.
  • Provide strategic insight into people data, guiding business leaders through workforce planning and effective people strategies, supporting strategic business objectives.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and drive processes optimization in a highly dynamic and fast-paced business environment.
  • Consults with business leaders on talent, leadership, business strategy/transformation, organizational development and effectiveness, diversity & inclusion, workforce optimization, and change management.
  • Scans and benchmarks the marketplace to identify and leverage best practices/trends to influence the business and HR agenda.

Who you are and what you bring to the team…

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 15+ years of increasing HRBP / HR Generalist responsibilities
  • Proven track record of HR business partner leadership role and people management in a Biotech organization is strongly preferred
  • Proven ability to proactively translate changing business objectives to effective HR strategies; specific experience needed in Organization Design, Talent Management, Diversity & Inclusion, and Change Management
  • Experience building awareness on key organizational issues and presenting a relevant solution, guide departmental heads, management, and stakeholders through a collaborative and shared decision-making process
  • Strong client relationship management skills and demonstrated experience in developing consultative relationships with executive leaders. Ability to influence at all levels.
  • Commitment to the company’s values with the ability to demonstrate those positively and proactively across the organization in everyday performance and interactions
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, monitor, and respond to HR and company metrics. Able to utilize HR metrics and analytics to partner with business leaders
  • Energetic, highly self-motivated, and able to work efficiently and productively in a fast-paced environment
