Description
Performs various professional, technical, and analytical work in employee relations, employee retention, team building, mediation, performance management, and other human resources-related areas. The HR Business Partner also coordinates with divisions to implement services, policies, and programs that will support a high performance workforce; is responsible for developing collaborative working relationships with internal stakeholders and partners with others at all levels throughout the organization on strategies and programs to support the Sheriff’s Office mission and vision. Reports directly to the Sheriff’s Office HR Supervisor.
Assists in the development of retention strategies and participates, leads, and/or organizes projects associated with retention.
Assists in the delivery and facilitation of new hire orientation, employee recognition events, cultural enhancement activities, organizational effectiveness events, and special projects.
Assists with the strategic initiatives of the Sheriff’s Office HR team including employee engagement, performance management, process improvements, and streamlining processes. In partnership with supervisors, provides coaching to employees to improve work relationships, increase productivity, and build trust and employee morale.
Assists in delivering a high-quality employee experience beginning with onboarding and continuing through the employee’s first year and beyond
Assists with tracking, monitoring, and analyzing data and metrics to recommend solutions and strategies to increase employee retention
Researches and recommends creative solutions and ideas to support a meaningful employee experience Supports a strong communication strategy between employees and the leadership team that is timely, accurate, and relevant
Acts as an internal consultant, by providing responsible, professional, and technical support and guidance to Sheriff’s Office employees and the leadership team, on HR issues including employee relations, coaching needs, training, and policy development/interpretation.
Coaches and trains leadership on employee relations issues and performance improvement plans
Manages and resolves complex employee relations matters by facilitating open conversations and/or conflict resolution techniques between managers/supervisors and employees
Assists with or conducts effective, thorough, and objective employee relations investigations; prepares reports summarizing findings; and makes recommendations for appropriate action.
May assist the recruitment team with recruitment processes by participating in interviews, attending job fairs, and supporting the onboarding process.
Maintain compliance with pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, regulations, and ordinances.
May perform special studies, projects, and tasks as assigned and required
Requirements
Minimum Requirements
Minimum three (3) years of progressive and diversified Human Resources experience, including a minimum of 1 year of directly related employee relations experience.
Knowledge of current Federal and State HR laws regarding Employee Relations Investigations is required. Minimum one (1) year of experience performing employee relations investigations is required.
High school diploma or GED required
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Human Resources Management or a related field preferred
Licenses/Certificates Possession of, or the ability to obtain a valid Colorado Driver's License SPHR/PHR, SHRM CP/SHRM SCP, or any other relevant certification desire
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of and highly skilled in state-of-the-art principles and practices of human resources
administration.
Knowledge of and highly skilled in Microsoft computer-based software applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
Knowledge of and highly skilled in navigating a variety of employee relation situations
Ability to establish, maintain, and foster positive and harmonious working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Superior change management skills
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to promote positive working relationships.
Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
