Infant Feeding Management Technicians are responsible for managing formula and breast milk in the NICU and in the children's hospital.
Pay Range
$20.40 - $30.60
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: High school diploma and successful completion of Nursing Assistant Program. LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION: Nurse Assistant I certification and Infant and Adult CPR certifications required. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Utilizes therapeutic communication skills to promote a cooperative work environment, develop interpersonal relationships, address conflict appropriately, and facilitate team building keeping the patient as the central focus and using family centered care principles. Utilizes listening and sensitivity. 2. Demonstrates the ability to function in a professional environment through Shared Governance participation, adherence to standards, participation in peer review and acceptance of accountabilities. Participates in orientation of new staff and acts as a resource to others. 3. Maintains a safe and therapeutic environment through strict adherence to standards, policies, and procedures for transport, storage, management and preparation of breast milk following infection control principles. 4. Promotes customer satisfaction through responsive, non-judgmental, respectful, and professional behaviors. Serves as a patient advocate in all interactions maintaining privacy and confidentiality. 5. Prepares and delivers infant breast milk as ordered using correct techniques to measure liquids including amounts needed over 24 hour period with minimal waste and appropriate double checks when needed. 6. Inventories and maintains sufficient nutrition room stock ensuring expired stock is removed and keeping appropriate records both written and computerized. 7. Takes personal responsibility for professional growth and development keeping abreast of new standards and information. Maintains competence by demonstrating self-direction for continuing education and renewal of Nurse Assistant registry listing. 8. Participates in identification of issues and quality improvement. Responsible for the intake, management, and preparation of breast milk feedings adhering to all sanitary regulations and standards established by regulating agencies and health care facility. Maintains feeding orders, ensures proper storage of milk including temperature logs, maintains adequate supplies related to breast milk and formula feedings, operates all equipment needed to prepare breast milk and maintains sanitation in the nutrition room and preparation areas. Additionally, interacts with the Lactation Consultant, dietitians, parents and ancillary staff to ensure compliance with current and new standards related to breast milk feedings.
